A number of free screenings for families and adults are available for the week of Sept. 2 to 8, 2011 around the Las Vegas metropolitan area.

These movie offerings are mostly hosted by public libraries and commercial establishments. Friday, Sept. 2, 2011

The District at Green Valley Ranch screens the Pixar movie “Cars” at 7:00 p.m. This free animated offering runs 114 minutes long. The District is located at 2240 Village Walk Dr. Henderson, NV 89052.

Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011

The Whitney Library features “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules” at the library’s Concert Hall. This free family-friendly flick is meant for kids ages 5 to 11. The District at Green Valley Ranch hosts the showing of the inspirational biopic “Secretariat.” The free screening starts at 7:00 p.m. The film runs 116 minutes long. The District is located at 2240 Village Walk Dr. Henderson, NV 89052.

The Clark County Library Story Room hosts the movie series “Sunday Movie Matinee” with the animated movie “Rio” from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. This public screening is geared towards the age group 7 to 10. Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011

In celebration of the National Hispanic Heritage Month (NHHM), the Clark County Library features the program “Tuesday Afternoon at the Bijou: Lupe Velez, the Mexican Spitfire” with the classic movie “The Girl from Mexico.” The screening is scheduled at the library’s Main Theater from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. This is a free special screening for adults and seniors. The Paseo Verde Library program called “The Film Movement Series” presents “A Screaming Man” from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the library’s conference room. The Lydia Malcolm Library invites children and their families for the free screening of “The Great Muppet Caper” for the library’s “Malcolm Movie Madness” program.
