The monthly arts event First Friday Las Vegas happens from 6:00 p.m. to midnight at the Downtown Arts District. It features arts events at the local independent theater Theatre7 and outdoor screenings of the Korean-Filipino-Iraqi independent film “Technophilia,” among other foreign short films.

The Clark County Library hosts the annual Vegas Valley Comic Book Festival, which features the screening of “V for Vendetta,” a 2006 film based on the comic book series of the same title. This happens from 10:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the library’s Main Theater.

Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011

The Clark County Library features the 2011 animated film “Gnomeo and Juliet” for its “Sunday Movie Matinee” program. Screening starts at 2:30 p.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m. at the library’s Story Room.

“Glass Circle,” a film project to be shot in Las Vegas during the first quarter of 2012, holds casting sessions from Nov. 6 to 8 at Theatre7. Actors must bring their resumes, head shots, and reels for the auditions scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

In celebration of the upcoming release of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1,” “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” simultaneously screens in selected theaters nationwide. In Las Vegas, these screenings are scheduled at the Century 16 South Point, Century 18 Sam’s Town, UA Rainbow Promenade 10, Century Orleans 18, Regal Aliante Stadium 16, and Century 16 Santa Fe Station.

The Sci-Fi Center screens the 1922 Swedish-Danish silent horror film “Haxan,” also known as “The Witches” and “Witchcraft Through the Ages,” from 8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

In celebration of its 50th anniversary, “West Side Story” returns to the big screen for a one-night event slated in various movie theaters nationwide. In Las Vegas, this happens at the Century Orleans 18, Century 16 Santa Fe Station, Century 16 South Point, Century 18 Sam’s Town, and Galaxy Cannery. Simultaneous screenings start at 7:00 p.m.
