The period between July 29 to Aug. 4, 2011 showcases a number of movie events in Las Vegas from the Sunrise Library, Clark County Library, Century Orleans, Town Square Park, and Laughlin Library.

These locations mainly offer film screenings ranging from Hollywood blockbusters to special features. Some of these movies are geared toward kids and teens, while others are meant for the adult audience.

The Century Orleans 18 Theater of the Orleans Hotel and Casino hosts “Transcendent Man: Live With Ray Kurzweil.” It features the futurist Ray Kurzweil who discusses the theory that technology is advancing too quickly and this poses a challenge for mankind. In line with the Town Square summer movie series, families and friends are invited to the “Movies in the Square” screening of the Pixar animated movie “Toy Story 3” at the Town Square Park. This free screening starts by sundown, but families and friends are encouraged to come earlier for live entertainment and various activities. This event is on a first-come, first-served basis. The Laughlin Library hosts the “Summer Movie Marathon @ Your Library” from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. For this program, the library chooses a family-friendly summer movie for a free screening at the Meeting Room.
