Jennifer Lawrence is best remembered for her brunette looks for two of her most memorable films to date, “The Hunger Games” and “Silver Linings Playbook.” But going back to a blonde hairdo on screen has never been this glamorous until her new project “American Hustle” started filming.
This time, she sports a towering and voluptuous hairstyle that easily catches attention. She wears a big blonde bouffant, ’70s-style.
The Big Blonde Bouffant
For “American Hustle,” the Oscar-winning actress showcased her long golden curls pinned up on top of her head to create a retro flair, aptly matching the film’s 1970s setting. This blonde bouffant hairstyle is characterized by long tresses of blonde hair teased and raised significantly higher than the head to create more volume, then wavy strips of hair are left hanging down the sides of the face. This period updo became very popular during the 1960s and 1970s. Lawrence’s sky-high bouffant creates the illusion of having very full and regal-looking hair. It also makes her look taller.
Filming Around Massachusetts
From March to April 2013, the cast and crew were spotted for a couple of times filming in different areas around Massachusetts. Shooting locations included Woburn, Worcester, Salem, and Boston. Production was slightly delayed in Boston following the lockdown of the city for the manhunt for one of the Boston Marathon bombers.
A number of photos on set revealed Lawrence donning her bouffant updo. Different scenes featured her wearing vintage clothes and accessories including a full-length fur coat and dress, funky geometric glasses, and golden hoop earrings. She was also seen with a neck brace in one of the scenes.
Jennifer Lawrence as Marie Weinberg
This motion picture is loosely based on the true-to-life story of the FBI’s sting operation called “Abscam,” a real-life American scandal that exposed national corruption in the United States from the late 1970s to the early 1980s. The plot focuses on a public corruption investigation involving an out-of-control federal agent and high-end criminals as they try to convict high-level politicians for their dirty work.
In this historical crime drama, Lawrence stars as Rosalyn Rosenfeld, the wife of star witness and notorious financial con artist Irving Rosenfeld, a role played by Christian Bale. Irving finds himself caught up and forced to work with an FBI operative in order to turn the tables on dirty politicians and other cons and gangsters.
This character-driven piece, which is scheduled for release on December 2013, is helmed by David O. Russell. He also directed “Silver Linings Playbook,” the film that made Lawrence the second youngest Best Actress winner at the Academy Awards.
